The Gingerbread Man

Image
Bumblebee Class have had an exciting couple of weeks with a visit from The Gingerbread Man. We caught some video footage of the Gingerbread men running through our EYFS playground so we went outside to try and find them. We created wanted posters to warn the rest of the school.  We have been learning the Gingerbread man text using Talk for Writing and have created story maps to support our understanding. This week we have started writing elements of The Gingerbread Man story using our phonic knowledge. We also have had a lovely time making and decorating Gingerbread men to sell at our Christmas Fair.

Kestrel Class have had another amazing week:  they have performed their play to the school and to their families. The performance was funny and heart-warming. The children did their very best and we all really enjoyed the show, along with seeing their pleasure in performing and how supportive they were of one another. They took everything in their stride...  Well done, Kestrel Class- we are really proud of you- again!

We can't believe it's day 3 already- so much fun had, and more to come before we say goodbye to Hilltop and head back to Bressingham. Here are some photos of today's activities and a final photo of our fabulous group of children.  Well done, everyone- you have pushed your boundaries and found great resilience, resourcefulness, reflectiveness and reciprocity! What amazing individuals and what a fantastic team!

Hilltop residential, day 2 continued

Hello again from Hilltop! We have had another memorable day. One group has done the Big Swing (and we mean BIG!) and archery, followed by high ropes and vertical challenge, while the other group did the latter two activities followed by climbing and abseiling, then everyone went swimming in the outside pool (brrr).  This evening, after times in the games room and visiting the tuck shop, our last activity of the day involved team work and an orienteering activity in a large wooded valley. Lots of charging around and shouting! We finished a little early, so had time for the children's choice of hide-and-seek in the valley- great fun...  It has been such a pleasure to see the children continue to show what wonderful people and friends they are. They have truly made the most of this wonderful experience, each and every one pushing themselves to do as much as they can- a little more and a little more- to achieve the best that they can, whilst being respectful and supportive of one anot

Wow! What a first day! The children have been amazing and have represented our school ethos in every possible way- we are very proud of them! They have aspired to achieve, by pushing themselves out of their comfort zone and into their stretch zone, by jumping from great heights onto an airbag and completing an assault course, or climbing and abseiling. They have been kind and collaborative, supporting one another to complete the challenges and to manage organising themselves. They have been open and honest, with themselves and with others, when facing challenges. They have been respectful of themselves in their decision making and respectful of others with their decision making. They have definitely welcomed new experiences and shown their super learning powers. This is what it's all about- all coming together for an amazing time with their friends on this trip- well done from a super-proud staff team! Day 1 photos
