The Three Billy Goats Gruff

  We have had a fantastic week in Bumblebees Class learning about the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We started by immersing ourselves in the story - listening to alternative versions and acting it out with our friends. We compared the story structure to other traditional tales we have learnt and discussed how we might adapt it if we were creating our own version. Then we heard news that a troll had been spotted on the railings by the village shop! We quickly came up with a plan and created our own instructions for ‘How to trap a Troll’ using Pie Corbett’s Talk for Writing structure and actions. Once we had figured out what we need, the children got to work and showed amazing problem solving skills and teamwork. Well done Bumblebees! Next week we will receive an apology letter from the troll explaining that he wants to change his behaviour and asking the children to help create safe spaces in the woods for him to come and visit. Visit from Banham Zoo

On Thursday 10th March , we had a visit from Banham Zoo Outreach team. They brought a variety of animals and animal artefacts. We met Millie,  the millipede; Gary the Great African Land snail and Lucifer the Royal python . We were able to handle animal artefacts: emu and ostrich eggs , a kangaroo skin, a turtle and a small crocodile ! We loved it and we were so sensible and caring when handling the live animals.
