Carol singing around Bressingham village

Having enjoyed several lunchtimes singing carols, to practise, we were excited to be going out to do some real carol-singing around the village.

Hot chocolate and biscuits helped to set us up, then having wrapped ourselves up, we headed out. We carried out a collection for Water Aid, the charity chosen by School Council for this year and raised an amazing £30 in about an hour! Thank you to all of our generous listeners in the village...

Wow! What a first day! The children have been amazing and have represented our school ethos in every possible way- we are very proud of them! They have aspired to achieve, by pushing themselves out of their comfort zone and into their stretch zone, by jumping from great heights onto an airbag and completing an assault course, or climbing and abseiling. They have been kind and collaborative, supporting one another to complete the challenges and to manage organising themselves. They have been open and honest, with themselves and with others, when facing challenges. They have been respectful of themselves in their decision making and respectful of others with their decision making. They have definitely welcomed new experiences and shown their super learning powers. The Three Billy Goats Gruff

  We have had a fantastic week in Bumblebees Class learning about the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We started by immersing ourselves in the story - listening to alternative versions and acting it out with our friends. We compared the story structure to other traditional tales we have learnt and discussed how we might adapt it if we were creating our own version. Then we heard news that a troll had been spotted on the railings by the village shop! We quickly came up with a plan and created our own instructions for ‘How to trap a Troll’ using Pie Corbett’s Talk for Writing structure and actions. Once we had figured out what we need, the children got to work and showed amazing problem solving skills and teamwork. Well done Bumblebees! Next week we will receive an apology letter from the troll explaining that he wants to change his behaviour and asking the children to help create safe spaces in the woods for him to come and visit. Bressingham Steam Museum & Gardens

 Bumblebee Class had a wonderful visit to the Steam Museum & Gardens. We enjoyed visiting the engine shed and the museum, making comparisons between the past and present. We learnt about why Steam engines were important and we were shocked to see how big they were! In the gardens we completed observational drawings of plants and flowers and completed a flower hunt.  The children particularly enjoyed the two steam train rides and finishing the day with a ride on the gallopers and an ice cream!
